Aston Martin unveiled the V12 Speedster at its Gaydon HQ. It is partly developed by ‘Q by Aston Martin’ and takes inspiration from the F/A-18 fighter jet. It is finished in ‘Skyfall Silver’ along with satin black exhaust tips, grilles and vanes adorned with F/A-18 motifs. It is powered by Aston’s 5.2-litre V12 producing an estimated 700hp and 753NM of torque making it capable of 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and it maxes out at 186mph. Production is limited to just 88 units, at a price starting at £765,000. Deliveries begin in Q1 2021. Alongside this, Aston Martin also introduced the latest Vantage Roadster, commemorating 70 years of the Vantage nameplate. It’s the same, mechanically, as its coupé sibling with the only differentiation being the lack of a solid roof. It will also feature Aston’s new seven-speed dog-leg gearbox.

A busy day for Koenigsegg which has also taken wraps off the Jesko Absolut, its fastest ever car. The Jesko Absolut is said to have drag coefficient of just 0.278. It produces 1600bhp and 1500Nm of torque from its twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which is mated to a Koenigsegg-developed nine-speed transmission. The Jesko Absolut gets two fins for aerodynamic stability, inspired by F-15 jets. This car features a smart steering wheel which has built-in screen. Koenigsegg will only make 125 Jesko and the car will be available in road and track versions.

Koenigsegg has revealed the Gemera four-seat GT. It gets a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged three-cylinder 2.0-litre engine along with three electric motors and the combined output is 1700bhp and 3500Nm of torque. The Gemera is said to achieve 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds along with the top speed of 400km/h (249mph). The Gemera is claimed to have a range of 1000km and can travel 50km in pure electric mode. The car is said to be carbon neutral as a pure electric vehicle if it filled with second gen ethanol or CO2-neutral methanol. The two-door Gemera has a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and only 300 will be made.

Chinese brand Aiways has introduced the U5 electric SUV, the company’s first venture into the European market. The U5 will be marketed to customers through an online-only, direct-to-consumer leasing system, which will bypass traditional car dealers. Aiways’ next production car, the U6 ion (an electric crossover aimed at younger customers), was also introduced, though the prototype could not be shipped to Europe due to the coronavirus outbreak.

GFG Style has unveiled three new concept cars. The 2030 Vision is a hyper-SUV which is constructed using a mixture of carbon for the body and aluminium for the frame. The EV SUV has been designed with go-anywhere abilities and trunk big enough to fit two sets of skis. The 2030 Vision Desert Ride features a reworked suspension raising the ground clearance by inches. It is showcased in a special colour mimicking the sand dunes of Saudi Arabia. GFG also unveiled the Bandini Dora EV, a barchetta-style roadster taking inspiration from Formula 1’s halo technology. It features Lamborgini-esque doors hinged underneath the A-pillar. The Giorgetto Giugiaro design is said to be extremely aerodynamic.

Vega EVX is Sri Lanka’s first-ever electric supercar. It has a liquid cooled 130kW, 900V Li-ion battery pack powering two electric motors producing a total of 804hp and 760Nm of torque. Coming in at a relatively light 1900kg due to its carbon fibre body, it's claimed to achieve 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.1 seconds. It boasts a range of up to 155 miles. It highlights the gradual switch to Asian design and production and shows that countries such as Sri Lanka are serious about and successful at designing and producing the supercars of tomorrow fully in-house. Vega will look to produce a maximum of 25 units in 2022.

Porsche has launched the latest generation 911 Turbo S Coupé and Cabriolet. The Turbo S gets a new 3.8-litre six-cylinder boxer engine with two variable-geometry turbochargers. The car now produces 478kW (650PS) of power and 800NM of torque which is 51kW (70PS) and 50NM more than its previous generation model respectively. The 911 Turbo S grown in dimensions as it is wider at the front by 45mm and 20mm at the rear. The all-new aerodynamic design language now gets adaptive front air flaps as well as a larger rear wing.

Hispano Suiza has announced the fully electric, limited edition Carmen Boulogne. It is a faster version of the Carmen, the Spanish company’s ‘hyperlux’ grand tourer. The Carmen Boulogne produces 1114hp and weighs 1630kg, reaching 62mph from rest in 2.6 seconds. Hispano Suiza’s President, Miguel Suqué Mateu, described it as a car “to satisfy all types of drivers.” Just five examples will be produced.

The new Morgan Plus Four has a bonded aluminium structure and BMW turbo engine. The new structure gives improved rigidity over the outgoing model's steel ladder chassis. The new turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 255 bhp. The Plus Four will still be hand-crafted like all Morgans, incorporating the traditional material of ash wood Morgan is renowned for using. The car costs £62,995 and is available to order now.
Cupra has unveiled the Formentor, the first model independent of its SEAT parent. It shares the VW MQB platform also used by the Leon, Ateca and Ibiza. The Formentor boasts more aggressive styling than the Ateca crossover and will be delivered with a choice of two powertrains. The first is a 242bhp plug-in hybrid with a 148bhp 1.4-litre TSI engine and a 114bhp electric motor. The second is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 306bhp. The sporty powertrains will be complemented with interiors which include standard bucket seats, a flat bottomed steering wheel and a digital instrument panel. The Formentor is expected for release in the final quarter of this year with pricing so far unconfirmed but expected to be between £35-£40,000.

Goodyear has announced a concept self-regenerating tire called the Recharge. The tire works through liquid capsules that recharge the tire tread removing the need to change the tires. The liquid tread is based on spider-silk and is biodegradable making it both environmentally friendly and durable. The liquid would be customizable with different blends developed for different climates and vehicles.
Hyundai's Prophecy incorporates two new and revolutionary ideas. An efficient natural air conditioning system, and the use of Joysticks rather than a steering wheel. Hyundai decided to go futuristic with its new concept, and have designed two joysticks positioned just wide of the driver's thighs, in order to navigate and control 90% of the cars commands. While this will remain a concept, for now, Hyundai will look to increase its EV production in 2020. Supplying 80,000 EVs in Europe for 2020, and looking to make 75% of the range electric in some form.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the facelifted E-Class. The car will hit the showroom from in the summer followed by the long wheel-base (China specific), coupe and cabriolet soon after. The facelift follows the latest design language employed by the Stuttgart brand. It gets redesigned bumpers, a fresh front fascia, split taillights accompanied with a new boot-lid design. Along with this, it employs Mercedes’ new MBUX infotainment system. The biggest selling variant gets three new colour options as well as four new interior trim options. There will be seven plug-in hybrid versions ieither with rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive.

Alpine has announced new colours and personalisation options for the A110. The new options are part of the Colour Edition and Atelier Alpine programmes. Sunflower Yellow will be the exclusive colour for the Alpine A110 Colour Edition for the year 2020, with the exclusive colour changing annually. This model will retail for €71,000. Atelier Alpine offers 29 new body colours, three new wheel finishes and four new brake calipers. The 29 new colours will each be limited to 110 cars and will be a €4,800 option.

Suzuki has facelifted its Ignis compact crossover. There’s a new 5-spoke grille and a beefier looking bumper. The rear bumper, too, is now different and appears more purposeful with its silver garnish and accented design. Mechanically, Suzuki has updated its K12D 1.2-litre engine and added a mild hybrid system with enlarged 10Ah lithium-ion battery capacity for better fuel efficiency. The Ignis is now available with a CVT option as well. As for the launch, the new Ignis will go on sale in the UK in April.

Pininfarina has taken the covers off the Battista Anniversario. Designed to celebrate Pininfarina’s 90 years of existence, this striking looking concept is claimed to be the most powerful road-legal Italian car ever made. Only five Battista Anniversario examples are to be built, with prices starting from €2.6 million. The Anniversario shares its underpinnings with the Battista with the latter’s carbon fibre monocoque chassis making for a strong foundation. As for the powertrain, there are a total of four electric motors producing 1,900bhp and 2,300Nm torque, with all that power going to each wheel via a highly advanced torque vectoring system. No more than 150 Battista, including the five Anniversario cars, are to be made in Italy with production expected to start by the end of 2020.

Audi has revealed its latest electric car, the A3 Sportback plug-in hybrid focused on sustainability and electrification. It gets a digital cockpit and all matrix LED lights along with powerful engines that makes it as sportier as it looks. Progressive steering, innovative assist systems and electrified drive ensure efficiency. However the brand, keen on achieving sustainability overall and not just through electrification, showcased their idea of a viable and green interior with the seat covers made from recycled PET bottles. Also, the brand gave hints of expanding the new A3 lineup with a sedan and an even sportier sportback version on the way.
McLaren has added another member to its prestigious ‘Longtail’ range. The 765LT boasts a whopping 765PS (hence the name), 45PS more than the 720S predecessor. This is produced from a twin-turbocharged V8 fitted with the triple-layer head gaskets from the Senna and bespoke aluminium pistons. This will launch the car from 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds and 0-124mph in 7.2 seconds. The immense power and acceleration have been accompanied by comprehensive weight saving using exotic materials, 15% faster throttle response and bespoke LT suspension systems along with a new more aggressive aerodynamic package and carbon ceramic brakes.

BAC has launched the second-generation Mono. The single-seater road car features a turbocharged engine for the first time to help it meet emissions and noise regulations. The 2.3-litre four-cylinder produces 332bhp and 295lb ft of torque, gains of 27bhp and 68lb ft respectively over the old 2.5-litre naturally aspirated unit. Weighing just 570kg, this gives the Mono a power to weight ratio of 582bhp-per-tonne. It accelerates from 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds and has a top speed of 170mph.

Volkswagen has given an insight on its first ever all-electric SUV, the ID.4 which will be launched this year. Ralf Brandstätter, Chief Operating Officer, VW said “We will produce and sell the ID.4 in Europe, China and the U.S.” regarding the carbon neutral vehicle. The ID.4 gets a digital cockpit with touch and voice controls for maximum intelligent association with the car. Its aerodynamics and efficiency, thanks to the position of the battery near the centre of the underbody to maintain a low centre of gravity, will ensure a range of up to 500 Km and the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) will offer plenty of interior space and practicality.

Bentley has unveiled the Bacalar, an open grand-tourer and a return to coachbuilding from Bentley Mulliner, Bentley's in-house coachbuilder. Based on the concept EXP 100 GT, the Bacalar will be limited to 12 models and each model will be tailored to the respective owners tastes. Powered by Bentley's 6.0 W12, the Bacalar is also designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible, from being built in a carbon-neutral factory to using the same ethically-sourced substances seen on the EXP 100 GT, including rosewood for the dashboard and recycled rice husk in the paint. The Bacalar is already sold out.

Skoda has launched its latest addition to the RS lineup, the Octavia RS iV. Skoda’s first RS model with plug in capabilities gets a maximum torque of 400Nm and 245hp out of 2.0-litre petrol engine, and it has all wheel drive. The electric motor has a range of up to 60km and offers practicality paired with sustainability. The company says it plans to launch 20 electric models by the year 2020.

Dacia has previewed what it claims will be “Europe’s most affordable all-electric vehicle” in the form of the Spring Electric concept. The production version of the Spring Electric will have a range of over 124 miles when it is launched in the first half of 2021. Not only will it be Dacia’s first electric car, it will be the first city car in the Dacia range.

Honda has announced that by the end of 2022 all its mainstream models will be electrified. Central to this will be Honda e technology, its electric and hybrid technology. The first cars to be launched with this e technology will be the new Honda Jazz hybrid and all electric Honda e. The Honda Jazz and e will go on sale in Europe this summer.

Alfa Romeo has unveiled a lighter, more powerful version of its Giulia saloon called the GTA. Its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 produces 540hp, an increase of 30hp over the Giulia Quadrifoglio, while a 100kg weight reduction has trimmed the GTA’s total mass to 1520kg. It is capable of hitting 62mph in 3.6 seconds.
The GTA’s reworked suspension includes 50mm wider tracks as well as new springs and dampers. A stripped out GTAm version, with a roll bar replacing the rear seats and more extreme aerodynamics, is also available. Sales of the GTA and GTAm are limited to 500 cars.

BMW has unveiled the Concept i4, previewing the next generation of BMW EVs. It's said to have improved range and an eye on sustainability. Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, introduced the car with a virtual walk-around tour. BMW also announced a goal to double the number of electric BMWs on the road by next year.
