The Volkswagen CC is dead and in its place is this, the Arteon. It's based on the same MQB platform but this four-door coupé is more premium than its mainstream saloon/estate cousin.
When the Arteon goes on sale later this year, it will be available in three trim levels and six engine options. The trim levels consist of base, Elegance, and R-Line. The engine options consist of 2.0-litre TDI four-cylinder with three levels of power output ranging from 148 to 236 horsepower. The base petrol engine is a 1.5-litre TFSI four-cylinder engine 148 horsepower. The optional engine is a 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder with two power output tunes, 188 and 276 hp.
Depending on the engine, transmission choice varies between six or seven-speed dual clutch automatic units. Base and mid-level motors send power to the front wheels only. A 4Motion all-wheel drive system is optional on some models and standard with the top-spec petrol and diesel engines.
The Arteon will go on sale in Germany in June and will arrive in the UK before the end of the year. Pricing has not yet been announced, but expect to pay a slight premium over the Passat.
