With a Nurburgring lap time of 6:52.01, the new Huracan Performante has set a new lap record. Lamborghini has managed this with lightweight construction, active aerodynamics and an even more powerful engine.

Powering the new supercar is a naturally aspirated V10 engine producing 640bhp at 8,000 rpm and 600Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels via an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system.

Lamborghini has introduced a new active aerodynamic system called the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) with the Performante. A combination of flaps, ducts and a fixed rear wing allows the new Huracan to produce less drag and more downforce. The flaps and ducts are controlled electronically by Lamborghini' Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI).

The car is based on a hybrid aluminium cabron fibre chassis aimed at reducing weight while maintaining stiffness. Parts of the interior have also been crafted using carbon fibre. The driver gets an on-board graphic showing him the downforce and drag generated and the working of the active aerodynamics.

The supercar rides on Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires which allows it to accelerate from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 2.9 seconds and on to a top speed of more than 325 kmph. Deliveries of the car will begin in summer this year.
